Why I started a flooring company in 2017
I spent years running the schedule for a busy flooring and coatings company, and I learned the trade from the crews I sent out every morning. The floors that came back peeling almost always had the same story, a step done out of order or skipped to save time. In 2017 I started Artisan Epoxy Floors of West Hollywood so I could do the work myself, in the right order.
Nine years on, we're a flooring contractor in West Hollywood best known for coatings and concrete floors that start with a tested, properly prepared slab. Homeowners call us about garages and basements, and property managers and shop owners call because they can't afford to close twice. Order matters even more here, because the city allows construction from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., only limited interior work on Saturdays and none on Sundays or city holidays. A floor with cure times has to fit that calendar, so I plan it before we start.
What you'll notice when we do your floor
These are the things you'll see on your own job. Each one comes from the same idea, that a finish only lasts as long as the slab under it and the order the work was done in.
The slab comes first
We plan every floor around the concrete underneath it, so testing and prep happen before any coating goes down. A finish can only hold as well as the slab it's bonded to.
You see the order before we start
Your estimate lays out each step in order, including any waits, so you can plan around the days you'll be without the garage, the basement or the shop floor.
A straight answer about products
If a coating or finish won't suit your floor, I'll tell you plainly. Sometimes that means a smaller job or a different finish, and I'd rather say so now than leave you with a floor that fails.
What to expect from first call to finished floor
Here's how a job runs with us, from the first call to the day you walk on the new floor. You'll know each step before it happens, and why it comes where it does.
Call or send the form
Call (213) 329-1493 or fill out our contact form with a few lines about the floor. We reply to every call and message within one business day to set a time to come out.
I look at your slab
I come out myself to see the floor, test the slab and ask how you use the space. I also check whether your job needs a permit, and when it does, we handle the application and the city's paperwork.
Review your free estimate
Your estimate is free, with no obligation, so take your time with it. The price mostly turns on the slab's condition, how much area there is and the finish you choose.
Our crew works in order
Our own crew does the work in the order on your estimate, prep first and finish last, inside the hours the city allows. I stay on the job, so nothing gets lost between the estimate and the floor.
